A common question we hear from new clients that walk into the showroom is simply, “Where do I start??” There are so many different elements that go into building a design scheme, which can seem overwhelming at first. Our Consulting and Showroom staff are equipped with the know-how and background experience to answer all your ‘ifs, buts and whats’ but with this article we hope to give you a basic direction on how to tackle your reno in style! So, no matter what you’re planning – whether it be a new bathroom, extension or a simple revamp – Lets brake down the process together.
Firstly lets look into the responses to the question, “Where do I start??”
If we’re starting from scratch, our consultants will suggest a trip around the showroom to take in the wide selection of porcelain and ceramic tiles. This can be a daunting step, but as we go along things that you don’t like will stand out before the things that you do. This is great because it narrows down the options, and our staff’s extensive knowledge of our products means they can show you the tiles that best tailor to your interests. This also helps those that come to us with specific design intentions. Want a coastal look? Something modern or trending? We can point you to the ranges that fit your category, and explain all the features and benefits of each.
Some follow up questions that you might be faced with to help slim the search include:
- Do you prefer a gloss or matt finish?
- What size or profile are we feeling will best suit your space?
- Are there any colours, patterns or textures that stand out to you?
Questions like these are meant to help you decide on what YOU want from YOUR space, a principle upheld for every selection at Ceramic City. And please don’t be afraid to ask questions! If you don’t know the difference between rectified or non-rectified, ceramic or porcelain, our team is here to make sure you know what you’re buying.
Sometimes clients find multiple options they can’t decide between. For those lucky few we suggest taking samples home to play with colour, lighting and arrangements. Sample pieces are available for current stock items, as well as those on special order upon request.
But why start with tiles? Many of our builders insist their clients start with a trip to the showroom as tiles form the backdrop to every room. We find it simplifies the process by giving you a solid foundation to make other design choices like taps, bench-tops and cabinets. To make things even easier, we have a wide selection of bench-top, laminate and other samples from trusted brands we keep on hand to help you mix and match ideas and schemes. Get your selections ready and sorted all in one stop!
And if you’re worried about grout, we are here to help! Our warehouse is onsite and stocked with the ARDEX ranges, as well as other common brands upon request. We can match the perfect grout to all our tiles, from high to low contrast.
On an end note, we advocate to our customers that the best way to tackle a project is to just get started. Even if things are in the earliest of stages our staff are here to offer you advice and council, as well as insights into the local building industry; on tiles and much more.
